Client: KEO PLC
Project: Mallia Winery upgrade
KEO PLC is among the winery industry leaders in Cyprus. One of its wineries located at Mallia was amongst the first to be built on the island and holds significant historic value. Mallia winery is also located approximately 200m northern from the Special Protection Area (SPA) Ha-Potami, which is part of the Natura 2000 network. In an aim to increase its efficiency and productivity, KEO PLC decided to transfer the wine bottling facilities from Limassol Old Port area to Mallia village where the wine is made.
YNB Consulting prepared an Environmental Impact Assessment screening report to determine whether an Environmental Impact Assessment or an Appropriate Assessment was required or not. The report included the proposed development description, a description of the sensitive receptors located in the proximity of the development and a methodology for assessing potential significant impacts. The screening report was evaluated by the Department of Environment, which concluded that an EIA was not required.
